Most vendors look only at the commission percentage and get a nasty surprise later. The honest way to judge a platform is to work out what lands in your bank account from one typical order, after everything.
Take a PKR 1,000 order. Platform commission at 15% takes PKR 150. Packaging costs perhaps PKR 30-60 depending on whether it is hot food or dry goods. If the customer pays by card, the payment gateway takes roughly 2-3%, so another PKR 20-30. If delivery is free above a threshold and you are absorbing part of it, add PKR 50-100.
That leaves around PKR 700-750 before your cost of goods. If your margin on that item was 40%, you are still making money — but if it was 20%, you are working for nothing. This is why the products you choose to list matter as much as the platform you list on.
Costs vendors routinely forget: returns and refunds on damaged goods, the time spent answering customer messages, photography, and the discount you offer to win the first order. Budget for these from the start rather than discovering them in month two.
How to protect your margin: list your higher-margin lines prominently, set a minimum order value that makes delivery worthwhile, use packaging sized to the product rather than oversized boxes, and encourage prepaid orders where you can — they cut both the cash-handling risk and the failed-delivery rate.
Delivero charges a low flat commission with no monthly listing fee and pays out weekly, so you can see exactly what each order returns. Compare the numbers for your own products at delivero.pk/partner.
